The Las Vegas Raiders have completed a trade that will send quarterback Geno Smith and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the New York Jets for a 2026 sixth-round pick, according to Adam Schefter.
Smith, 35, started his career with the Jets in 2013. He has since played for the Giants, Chargers, Seahawks and Raiders. In his career, he has passed for 22,168 yards, 124 touchdowns, 89 interceptions on 65.2 percent completion. After serving time as a backup, he has started each of the last four seasons and made two Pro Bowls over that time. He was named the Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 with the Seahawks.
The Raiders have the no. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and are expected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. To facilitate this trade, they will eat a portion of Smith’s salary.
Smith will return to the Jets and joins a roster that features Justin Fields at the position.
