The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Max Klare NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Tight End
School: Ohio State
Size: 6-foot-4, 246 pounds
Class: Redshirt Junior
2025 stats: 43 receptions, 448 receiving yards, 10.4 yards per reception, 2 touchdown receptions
Klare was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 who signed with Purdue out of Ohio. He redshirted in his first year, then played a little in 2023 with 22 catches for 196 yards. Klare had a breakout season in 2024, as he caught 51 passes for 685 yards and four touchdowns. Purdue didn’t have a good season and Klare transferred to Ohio State for the 2025 season. He hauled in 43 passes for 448 yards and two touchdowns in 2025. His play helped the Buckeyes make the CFP.
Following the CFP appearance, Kalre declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two pick.
Klare is a good athlete for the tight end position. He has good quickness at the snap and can get to top speed quickly. Klare has good agility and body control as well. He can get upfield and attack the seam well, as an athletic mismatch for a lot of linebackers. Klare is one of the more athletic tight ends in the class.
He has the ability to run after the catch pretty well. After the ball is in his hands, he shows good vision as he scans the field quickly. He is tough to bring down because of his combination of athleticism and strength. Klare does a lot of work underneath and can get upfield and pick up extra yardage.
His route running is great for the position as well. He can get in and out of his routes well to separate from man coverage, specifically underneath. Klare also has the ability to find the soft spot against zone coverage, as he can sit down in between zones. He is quarterback-friendly in his ability to get open.
Klare has a good frame for the NFL, but he could fill it out a bit more. He weighed in at just 246 pounds at the NFL Combine. Klare can add some play strength and his frame should be able to carry it. This will help him fit in on the NFL line of scrimmage more and help him play through contact as a pass catcher.
He shows good run blocking effort, but can improve in this area to be a better complete tight end. Klare can add strength to help him sustain his blocks, but he can also work on his technique. His hands get too wide, which lets defenders get their hands on him and shed. Cleaning that up will help, too.
His hands were better at Ohio State, but he can keep working on them. Klare can struggle to adjust to the ball in the air at times, but mostly needs to make sure he focuses on the ball coming all the way in. He only had two drops at Ohio State, so he’ll want to make sure he keeps on improving.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick
