The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Domonique Orange NFL Draft Profile.
Position: Interior Defensive Line
School: Iowa State
Size: 6-foot-2, 322 pounds
Class: Redshirt Junior
2025 stats: 18 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended
Orange was a three-star recruit in the class of 2022 who signed with Iowa State out of Missouri. He didn’t play much in his first season, registering eight total tackles. Orange played more in 2023, as he registered 16 total tackles and two tackles for loss. For 2024, Orange had 24 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and one sack. His play helped the Cyclones win 11 games. In 2025, he had 18 total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. He led Iowa State to an eight win season.
Following the season, Orange has been preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day two selection.
Orange has great size for an NFL interior defensive lineman. He measured in at 6-foot-2 and 322 pounds at the NFL Combine, which is quality for a nose tackle. With his size comes quality play strength, which he uses to his advantage. He also has good length, with arms measuring over 33 inches. With his measurables, strength and length, Orange will fit right into the position.
He is specifically useful on run plays. Orange doesn’t have great production, but he frees up others to make plays. He can take on multiple blockers and hold his ground, which can disrupt plays. Orange can also push past blocks and change the lane of a run play and disrupt the offense. He may be a player who specializes in early downs because of his impact against the run.
His burst at the snap is good for the position, as he gets a good jump on plays. With his good start, Orange can get a step ahead of offensive linemen. This allows him to put them in recovery mode, whether he is attacking their chest or trying to slip past them into the gap.
Orange doesn’t provide much of a pass rush for a team. He had just one career sack. He is more of a player who can defend the run on early downs, but should be taken off the field on passing downs. When he is on the field during passing plays, Orange is more of a pocket pusher than anything else.
While he can take on blocks and free up others to make plays, Orange can take a while to shed. He knows his biggest asset is disrupting, but there are times when he could shed blocks and make plays on the ball. He will need to work on his hand usage and utilization of his length to help him shed quicker.
Interior defensive linemen typically don’t have a lot of production and Orange fits that bill. He won’t generate a lot of sacks on passing downs. On running downs, he doesn’t have the shedding and pursuit to make plays. He is best when he is taking up multiple blockers, but he could make more plays.
