The LCS has gone through a lot of changes for the 2023 season. The format is the same but the times and dates have changed which has carried over to the Summer. Along with this, the players have decided to effectively strike. This preview will look at the team as it is originally intended to be. FlyQuest 2023 LCS Summer Split Schedule
New ownership, a new desire to win and do so in a very different way than in their past. This is the story of FlyQuest after they were bought by the owners of the Florida Panthers NHL team and are now lead by Papa Smithy. FlyQuest were completely revamped with the additions of Impact, Spica and Eyla. Then they brought in highly prized players from Korea in VicLa and Prince. This team was destined to make MSI. Sadly, they didn’t.
The team would start off as hot as any team in LCS history and then barely finish above .500 through the second half of the Split. The problems stemmed mostly around the inconsistency of VicLa and the decision to sub out Winsome for Eyla once his visa was approved. FlyQuest would finish 14-4 but would only win one series and be knocked out by Golden Guardians in third place. This Summer could see a major difference in the franchise’s fortunes though.
Top- Impact
Jng- Spica
Mid- VicLa
Bot- Prince
Sup- Vulcan
On paper, this is one of the best rosters ever assembled. Impact is as consistent as they come. Spica has shown that hist MVP and LCS Championship on TSM were not fraudulent. Prince lived up to the expectations and VicLa showed flashes of how great he could end up being. But the big difference here is that Vulcan will be Prince’s laning partner. Considering he is generally considered the best support in the LCS, Prince may up having an unprecedented Split if they two of them can really come together.
There are very few question marks with FlyQuest as there are with Cloud9. The team is very strong but the difference between the two top teams is in the mid lane. EMENES was much better and more consistent than VicLa. While VicLa on his better days can absolutely play as well or even better than EMENES, it is his worst days that FlyQuest fans fear.
Along with this, Impact is still a bit limited in how he plays and what he plays which can come back to bit FlyQuest. He will have to be a rock once again for this team to find success. Then it comes down to whether Prince and Vulcan can be the best bot lane in the LCS. If they can live up to that then this team will find success regardless of how everyone else is playing. If not, then there is still enough talent to where FlyQuest should at least make it to Worlds 2023.
